AREF MONTAZERI
IMMORTAL MIRROR
23 JAN – 20 SEPT 2024
Leila Heller Gallery is delighted to announce the upcoming solo exhibition by Aref Montazeri, titled 'Immortal Mirror', opening 23rd January 2024.
Aref Montazeri's artistic journey unveils the mirror's role as a time capsule, capturing time layer by layer. With a single gaze, time halts, letting the audience see themselves in the present, amid past moments and a myriad of images within the mirror's layers. The inherent haziness of the present image sparks contemplation on time's nature, fostering a unique interaction between the audience and the reflective medium.
‘Immortal Mirror’ marks a profound exploration into the layers of mirrors and their intricate relationship with the audience, unveiling a fresh essence that challenges perceptions and transcends the boundaries of time.
Transitioning from abstraction to tangibility, Montazeri introduces an innovative mirror crafted through a chemical oxidation process, mimicking the effects of time. He delves into the abstract realm, proposing a poetic notion that declares, "The image in the mirror is immortal

CARPETS OF EDEN, GARDENS OF FANTASY
25 FEB – 20 SEPT 2024
In the ethereal domain of fibers and threads, where the ordinary converges with the enchanting, carpets emerge as tacit narrators, murmuring tales of a transcendent Eden. Within their woven realms unfolds a ballet of fantasy—a choreography of patterns and hues that captivates the senses and sparks the imagination.
The carpet, understood as a flat, patterned surface, served as a model for painters at the end of the nineteenth century and was a frequent point of comparison when discussing works. The Oriental carpet was of continuous importance even though it might be claimed that interest peaked during the nineteenth century; in the wake of Orientalism, carpets were a well-established motif as a code for the exotic.

CHIHULY
FOUR DECADES OF ICONIC WORK
25 FEB – 20 SEPT 2024
Leila Heller Gallery is delighted to announce the first extensive exhibition by internationally renowned artist Dale Chihuly in the United Arab Emirates; Chihuly: Four Decades of Iconic Work, opening the 25th of February 2024.
Chihuly: Four Decades of Iconic Work, showcases works spanning nearly a 40-year period from 1985–2023 and celebrates both the monumental installations and more discrete works for which Chihuly is known. The collection features two new large-scale installations and over 50 sculptures in glass, as well as two-dimensional works, connecting various series and decades. Synthesizing ideas and practices of the Studio Glass Movement in North America as well as the traditions of the Venetian Ateliers, Chihuly’s ambitious six decade long career has set the bar for glass in contemporary art and redefined the vernacular of abstraction.
From his iconic Baskets and delicate Seaforms, to the colorful Macchia, dynamic Soft Cylinders, and mesmerizing Persians, each piece in this exhibition embodies Chihuly’s innovative techniques, bold use of color, and captivating forms.
